Glasgow’s new, state-of-the-art 13,000 capacity SSE Hydro Arena is located, more specifically, in the Finnieston area and is part of the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC). Originally opening its doors with a Rod Steward concert simply as the Hydro Arena, it has since changed its name to the SSE Hydro. Hosting the biggest live music acts the tour through Glasgow, and all of Scotland for that matter, the Hydro will play host to the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards in November of 2014. Its neighbouring Clyde Auditorium is a 3,000 person concert hall popularly known as the “Armadillo” for the shape of its structure.
