Information of The Black Crowes
The Black Crowes formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1984. Original members include brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, Steve Gorman, Johnny Colt, and Jeff Cease. The Robinson brothers and Steve Gorman remain the only original members of the band. The Black Crowes takes its name from the children's book "Johnny Crow's Garden" by Leonard Leslie Brookes.
Over the span of their career, The Black Crowes have released nine studio albums, four live albums, and numerous singles. Their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, was released in 1990. It sold over 3 million copies and earned multi-platinum status. Two singles off that album reached top 30 spots on 1991's Billboard Hot 100. Their second album, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, moved all the way to the top of Billboard 200 in 1992. The singles "Remedy" and "Thorn in My Pride" also reached the Hot 100 in 1992. Two albums, 1993's Tall and 1996's Band, were scrapped and later released as The Lost Crowes in 2006.
The Black Crowes announced a hiatus in 2001. A live album was pieced together and released in 2001 and members pursued solo careers. The band formally reunited in 2005. Their first album after the hiatus, the 2008 released Warpaint, debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200. The 2010 Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys tour ended with the announcement of an indefinite hiatus. The hiatus ended in 2012 with a 21 city US tour and the 2013 release of their fourth live album Wiser for the Time.
