Information of My Morning Jacket

As an amalgamation of psychedelic rock, southern roots, and indie rock, My Morning Jacket has done their best to keep their their music interesting and relevant with a live twang that gives a kick of nostalgic sound and resonance.

The currnet line-up hails from Louisville, Kentucky: Jim James (vocals), Tom 'Two-Tone Tommy' Blankenship (bass), Patrick Hallahan (drums), Carl Broemel (guitar, saxophone), and Bo Koster (keyboard, percussion). They released two studio EPs under independent labels, but did not get any real recognition until their breakthrough third album, It Still Moves (2003). It Still Moves was widely and critically praised for their melody and soulful lyrical qualities, and Rolling Stone Magazine listed "Run Thru" in their top "100 Greatest Guitar Songs".

The band made serious musical headlines after perfomring a staggering four hours set at the 2008 Bonnaroo Music Festival. During their live show, Metallica's Kirk Hammett and comedian Zach Galifianakis were just one of many guest performers to join them on stage. They covered a range of tunes from Kool and the Gang's "Get Down on It" to Mötley Crüe's "Home Sweet Home".

My Morning Jacket's fifth studio album, Evil Urges (2008) was nominated for Best Alternative Rock Album at the Grammy's.
