Julio José Iglesias de la Cueva was born on September 23, 1943 in Madrid. Throughout his life, Julio Iglesias has worked among other things as a singer, songwriter, lawyer or footballer. He is currently one of the best known Spanish artists worldwide and the Latin artist who has sold the biggest number of albums. The Spanish singer Julio Iglesias managed to penetrate in the international market, at a time when the English and North American markets practically dominated the music industry. Julio Iglesias managed to sell more than 350 million records while doing tours throughout the five continents. His songs have become universal anthems, chanted in numerous languages. These include themes such as "La Carretera", "I forgot to live", "Love, love", "Hey!", "I'm going, I'm going", "Careless Whisper", "Nathalie" or "Baila Morena". The artistic career of the Spanish singer has been recognised with numerous awards and titles, including several Guinness Records that make him the most successful European artist worldwide to this day. Recently Julio Iglesias has been awarded by the American Recording Academy with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
