Elf Power, an indie rock band out of Athens, Georgia, is comprised of Andrew Rieger, Laura Carter, Jimmy Hughes, Derek Almstead and Eric Harris. Rieger founded the band in Georgia with Laura Carter in 1994. Early recording sessions led to the album, "Vainly Clutching at Phantom Limbs." Rieger and Carter eventually moved to New York City where they released their EP, "The Winter Hawk," in 1995. They then moved back to Athens and released their second album, "When the Red King Comes," which included collaborations with Neutral Milk Hotel, among others. Their next album, "A Dream in Sound," also featured collaborative work with other indie rock bands and led to a tour in support of the album in 1999. In 2000 the band released, "The Winter is Coming," and toured as a supporting act for R.E.M and Wilco. The band has released over ten albums in total, many on independent labels and their first two, "Curse of Yoth-Bal-Tzar" and "Hekinah Degul" were self-released on cassettes. They have toured throughout the United States and Europe in support of their albums.
