Information of Coldplay
Originally founded as Pectoralz in 1996, British alt-rockers Coldplay have since become one of the most celebrated and best-selling bands in the world. Since breaking through with the single "Yellow" in 2000, the Chris Martin-led quartet has gone on to sell more than 50 million albums worldwide, winning seven Grammy Awards on 20 total nominations, along with a host of other global music awards. Coldplay acheived major popularity in the spring and summer of 2000, when the band's first headlining tour coincided with the release of its first full-length album, "Parachutes." After headlining the Glastonbury festival in June of that year, Coldplay never looked back. By 2001 they had acheived notoriety in the United States, particularly through college and modern-rock airplay. The band's subsequent albums, "A Rush of Blood to the Head," "X&Y," and "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends," have all acheived significant critical acclaim. Coldplay's distinctive, melodic, and emotional style has connected with a very broad fanbase and sold out long tours in large venues for more than ten years now. A forthcoming album, titled "Mylo Xyloto," is scheduled for release in October 2011. One single from the album, titled "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall," was released in June 2011.
