Austra is an Electronic band based in Canada and formed in 2009. The core members of the group include Dorian Wolf, Katie Stelmanis and Maya Postepski. In their short musical career, Austra has released 3 singles, 1 extended player and 1 full length debut offering. Their 3 singles include, "Beat And The Pulse," "Lose It," and the most recent "Spellwork." Additionally, their extended player which was released in 2011 was called Sparkle. They followed this release with their debut studio album entitled, Feel It Break. Austra formed in Toronto, Canada and quickly immersed themselves in the Ontario Electronic and House music scene. Furthermore, their kind of music has been called Synthpop, Dark Wave, New Wave, Dream Pop and Indie-Elecronica. They have recently signed to major-indie label Domino as well as being a part of the indie labels One Big Silence and Paper Bag Records. Amassing a decent following and receiving a lot of press from blogs, pundits and websites alike, Austra has quickly made a name for themselves in the Electronica and Indie music scene. Their style of music bridges the gap between Pop, Electronic and Indie stylings which have gained them a devoted fan following. Additionally, they use social media tools and networks to promote and market their group, which has increased their following worldwide.
