Information of Alabama
Alabama is one of the most influential southern rock and country bands from Fort Payne, Alabama. Core members Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook formed the group in 1969. Alabama is recognized as one of the first groups to launch country and southern rock music into commercial mainstream success. The group is responsible for merging the genres of hard rock, country, gospel, pop and rock n roll. According to Billboard Magazine, Alabama has sold over 73 million records worldwide. In 2005, Alabama was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In addition, the band has recorded 34 number 1 hit singles. Since their initial inception in 1969, the band has released 23 full-length studio albums as well as 2 live albums, 8 compilation albums and 65 singles. In 1980, Alabama released their debut offering entitled My Home's in Alabama. The album helped launch the band to instant fame. They sold over 4 million units of their debut album within the first year. Alabama released 1 full-length album every year in the 80s. In 2002, Alabama went on a major worldwide tour to mark the end of the band's career. Although the band does not tour anymore, they have released 2 more full-length albums in 2006 and 2007.
