After much hype and two years of construction, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center came to life in September and October of 2012 with a residency of Jay-Z concerts. With a capacity allowing up to 19,000 fans to filter through its doors and into the Barclays Center immediately made its impact on the New York City live event scene, fast becoming the go-to arena for music acts to host their concerts, even events like the MTV Video Music Awards and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies have taken place at their fairly new multi-purpose arena.
With hip-hopper and businessman Jay-Z’s involvement, the Barclays Center has come to be home court for the NBA’s Nets upon their move from New Jersey to Brooklyn, and will see the NHL’s New York Islanders relocate to the venue starting in 2015.
