Vampire Weekend is an indie rock band that formed in 2006. The band was formed in New York City and signed to XL recordings. Vampire Weekend still consists of the same core members of Rostam Batmanglij, Chris Tomson, Ezra Koenig and Chris Baio. The band members all met while attending school at Columbia University. The band has released 3 full-length studio albums since 2006. Their second album, Contra debuted at number 1 on the US Music Charts. In addition, it ranked at number 1 on the UK Charts as well. Their 3rd studio offering is slated for release in May of 2013. The album is called The Modern Vampires of The City. The band has also released 10 singles worldwide. The band is planning on touring extensively off the back of their new album.
Vampire Weekend announced that their 3rd studio album was recorded at Excello Studios in Brooklyn, New York. Modern Vampires of the City is expected to be their most comprehensive and diverse range of material to date. Vampire Weekend are also known for the energetic live performances. Their relentless touring and social media networking have gained them an ever-increasing and massive following. In March of 2013, Vampire Weekend released a double A-side single for Diane Young backed with Step. Their new material has already increased a significant amount of interest for their upcoming new album. Expect to see Vampire Weekend hit the road in support of their new album as well as appear at live music festivals around the world.
