The Breeders are considered one of the most influential and iconic bands of the alternative and indie rock scene of the 1990s. The sisters Kim and Kelley Deal as well as Tanya Donnely of The Throwing Muses formed the Breeders in Boston, Massachusetts in 1990. However, Kim Deal is best known for her work as bassist in iconic late '80s rock band The Pixies. Although The Breeders have undergone a significant amount of line up changes over the years, they have remained a pivotal and iconic group in the alternative rock community. The band reached overnight success for their increasingly popular video for "Cannonball", which was continually featured on MTV throughout the '90s. The Breeders' 1993 album, Last Smash was a commercial success and the group's most recognizable album to date. Since the group's formation in 1990, The Breeders have gone on to release seven full-length studio albums in their career. The Breeders recently performed at the 2013 Primavera music festival in Barcelona, Spain to a crowd of tens of thousands of fans. In celebration of over twenty years of music making, Kim & Kelley Deal, Jim Macpherson, and Josephine Wiggs decided to tour the world in 2013. In addition, The Breeders have announced plans for recording a new album in the upcoming months. Expect to see the band perform at numerous concert festivals throughout 2013 as well as additional touring around the back of their new album release.
