Information of Neil Diamond

Neil Diamond, over fifty years of music
Neil Diamond is a singer, song writer, and actor whose work spans five decades and 39+ albums. His senior year of college he was offered a contract to write songs for fifty dollars a week. His first recording attempt was an unsuccessful duo with his friend Jack Parker.
He signed with Columbia Records as a solo performer in 1962. He recorded several singles. His first success, however, was as a song writer. In 1965, songs he wrote made it onto the charts preformed by different artists, including The Monkeys recording of “I’m A Believer”.
Diamond signed with Bang Records in 1966 and released his first hit, “Solitary Man”. His tour found him opening for bands like Herman’s Hermits, and once he opened for The Who.
The 1970s saw his greatest success, with top ten hits, sold out concerts, the number 1 hit duet “you Don’t Bring Me Flowers” with Barbara Streisand, and sold out international tours.
In 1980, he stared in the remake of “The Jazz Singer”. The film spurred chart topping hits such as “Love On The Rocks”, and “America”.
The 1980s and 1990s saw a decline in his record sales, but his live performances sold out. Neil Diamond’s career spans more than fifty years. His success as a song writer can be evidenced by the great performers, such as The Monkeys, Johnny Cash, UB40, Barbara Streisand, Smash Mouth, and Elvis, who have recorded his songs. Weather it is an album, music video, concert, festival, or movie, Neil Diamond is easily identified as one of the most prolific creative talents of the last five decades.
