Aubrey Drake Graham (1986), also known as Drake is a Canadian rapper who has risen to unprecedented heights in the music industry since his debut mixtape in 2006, "Room for Improvement". Drake first came into the limelight when he played Jimmy Brooks on the television series Degrassi: The Next Generation. Drake's big musical break came in 2009 when he signed to Young Money Records and later released the single "Best I Ever Had", which reached number two on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Drake consolidated his position as one of the rap industries most exciting prospects with the release of "Take Care" which gained rave reviews, awards and even topped the U.S Billboard 200. Drake would later use his success to establish his own collective and recording label in 2012; Octobers Very Own (OVO). Drake’s subsequent album "Nothing Was The Same" dominated charts across the globe and was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize and Best Rap Album Grammy. During the summer of 2015, Drake released various singles on his SoundCloud page, one of them being "Hotline Bling" which became a music and dance sensation. Drake's following album "Views", drew inspiration from his hometown; Toronto, Ontario. Following another chart-topping album, Drake released three tracks including the popular "Fake Love". "More Life" was then released and included features from esteemed artists such as Kanye West, Quavo, Jorja Smith and 2 Chainz. Drake continued his successful form with the release of a two-disc album "Scorpion" which smashed the record for the most streams in a day and yet again received Platinum creditation with tracks such as "Nice For What" Drake’s musical domination recently reached new heights by breaking a record previously set by The Beatles; the most Top 10 songs in a year. Drake’s musical scope seems to have no boundaries, being one of Spotify’s most streamed artists and having dominated music charts worldwide. As well as dominating foreign music charts, the Canadian artist is well known for his love of the British music scene, in particular Grime and British rap. Drake has worked with artists such as Skepta, Dave and Giggs. Drake’s accolade laden career has included multiple Grammy Awards, festival appearances, Number One positions on music charts worldwide.
