Crystal Castles are an electronic band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The band was formed by the duo partnership of Ethan Kath and Alice Glass in 2004. The sound of Crystal Castles has been compared to Soft Cell, The Cure, Kraftwerk and MGMT. However, the sound of Crystal Castles takes on a more Lo-Fi and Experimental brand of Electronic and Pop music.
Between 2006 and 2007 the band had released a flux of limited edition vinyl extended players as well as singles. The production of their records is known for its markedly Lo-Fi and melancholic timbre. Their debut eponymous release came out in 2008.
4 singles from that first album were released to critical acclaim. Those singles were "Crimewave", "Air War", "Courtship Dating" and "Vanished". In fact, the album landed at the number 39 spot for NME's Top 100 Albums of The Decade list.
In 2010, Crystal Castles released their follow up sophomore album called II. The album was a landmark recording for Crystal Castles. It was the first album of their to chart on the US Billboard Music Chart. In addition, the group released their 3rd full-length album offering in 2012 called III.
In support of this album release, 3 singles were issued. Those singles were "Plague", "Wrath of God" and "Affection". The band continues to write original music and tour the world extensively. Crystal Castles are also slated to perform at many live music festivals around the world in 2013.
