Three of the four members of the Los Angeles-based band, Allah-Las, worked at Amoeba prior to the groups musical collaboration. (Amoeba is an iconic vinyl store nestled between the Entertainment and Media districts of downtown LA.) Spencer Dunham and Pedrum Siadatian gathered solo, multi-instrumental songs and placed them into a collection of home recordings. Soon after, they recruited Matthew Correia as drummer and Miles Michaud as an additional guitarist and also as the groups lead vocalist. None of the band members had any formal training in music. In 2008, the group performed their first show in LA. In 2011 with the help of producer Nick Waterhouse, under the label Pres, they released their first seven inch recording -Catamaran/Long Journey.
