Originally formed in 1972 by brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen, the band Van Halen is one of the top selling rock and roll bands of all time. Since the 1978 release of their debut album Van Halen, Van Halen has sold over 80 million records throughtout the world and has had the most number one hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts.
