The Prodigy were formed by Liam Howlett in 1990. They are an electronic dance music group often said to have pioneered the big beat genre. Big beat music draws from acid house synthesizer lines and techno beats, combining them with breakbeats and punk style vocalizations. Other members of the band include vocalists Keith Flint and Maxim, who is also the MC. The band's first album, Experience, released in 1992, met with critical success in England and spawned numerous singles, including "Charly" and "Fire/Jericho." Their second album, Music for a Jilted Lover, went to the top spot on the UK Albums Chart. It wasn't until the 1996 release of the single "Firestarter" that the band began to break into international markets. They then made waves with the single, "Smack My Bitch Up," which some radio stations only played at night. They released their DJ Mix album, The Dirtchamber Sessions, Volume One, in 1999 before breaking up. The band reunited in 2002 and by 2004 had released their fourth studio album, Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned. They began to tour extensively throughout Europe and the United States. They released two more albums; Invaders Must Die in 2009 and How To Steal a Jet Fighter in 2013
