Originally formed in 1983 out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, The Flaming Lips create unique and experimental sounds that are unlike any other music heard today. Comprised of members Wayne Coyne, Michael Ivins, Steven Drozd, Kilph Scurlock, and Derek Brown, The Flaming Lips weave notes of psychedelic sounds into a spacey, dream pop type of music. While The Flaming Lips have been a band since the early 1980s, it wasn't until the 1993 release of the hit "She Don't Use Jelly" that this Oklahoma experimental rock band found mainstream success. The Flaming Lips have an enormous catalog of music, and each of their albums are unique and different because they are constantly experimenting with different musical sounds. Since the 1986 release of their debut album Hear It Is, The Flaming Lips have released a total of 13 albums. The Flaming Lips are not only popular with music lovers, but they have been recognized in the music industry by winning 3 Grammy Awards.
