Information of The 1975
The 1975 are a band that can be considered an all purpose rock band. This group of British musicians, originating from Manchester, United Kingdom, have produced a variety of rock music in alternative rock, indie rock and electronic rock genres. The group, which formed in 2002, came together under the direction of band member Adam Hann. After linking up, during their early stages, the group went through a slight episode of identity crisis. At one point or another, the band was known by the names of Drive Like I Do, The Slowdown, BigSleep and Talkhouse. The group ultimately settled on the name The 1975 after being inspired by an old poetry book that used to be owned by a suicidal maniac. Inside of this book was the date "1 June. The 1975" The 1975 first met in high school. The group, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Matthew Healy, guitarist Adam Hann, drummer George Daniel, and bassist Ross McDonald, began their journey into the music entertainment world by covering punk songs. Though they began recording music in 2002, they would have to wait ten years to receive recognition for their songs. The band saw success in 2012 as they released four EPs: Facedown, Sex, Music for Cars and IV. In 2012, the band finally received radio play after being promoted by BBC Radio 1 hosts DJ Zane and Huw Stephans. In 2013, their song "Chocolate", from the Music for Cars EP, earned them the 19th spot on the UK singles chart. The 1975 is a band that chose their name after reading notes dated from June of 1975 scribbled in the back of a Beat poetry book. Originally formed in 2002, The 1975 is an electronic indie rock band comprised of members Matthew Healy, Adam Hann, George Daniel, and Ross MacDonald. Based out of Manchester, England, The 1975 creates a sound of music that has been heavily influenced by bands like Talking Heads and My Bloody Valentine and musicians like Peter Gabriel and Brian Eno. First meeting during their high school days, The 1975 has released one studio album and a total of four EPs including Music for Cars, Facedown, IV, and Sex. The 1975's music combines elements of pop music and electronic sounds as can be heard on the songs "Chocolate" and "The City, and they are a band that will most likely only become more popular in the years to come.
