Paloma San Basilio (born on November 22, 1950 in Madrid, Spain) is one of the most popular singers in Spain. She starred in the Spanish language premiere production of Andrew Lloyd Weber's Evita at Teatro Monumental in Madrid. The show later transferred to Barcelona and certain cities in Latin America. She represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 1985 in Gothenburg, Sweden, with the sad ballad La fiesta terminó (The party ended), and finished 14th. She also starred in highly acclaimed Madrid revivals of "Man of La Mancha" and "My Fair Lady," and the Madrid production of "Victor/Victoria."
She recorded several tracks with Placido Domingo and a particularly notable duet version of 'Soledad' by Emilio Jose.
