Information of Gogol Bordello
Gogol Bordello is a "Gypsy Punk" band formed in New York City in 1999. They are influenced by gypsy music and other Eastern European music. Although Eugene Hutz is the only remaining original member, violinist Sergey Ryabtsev has been with the group since 1980. One of the few pop groups to use instruments such as the accordion and violin, they sometimes feature instruments such as the saxophone and programmed dance beats. Each member of the band has a unique look that reflects their personality and interests. They are an international group, featuring members from all over Europe, Latin America and the United States, including: Eugene Hütz, Ori Kaplan, Sasha Kazatchkoff, Pamela Jintana Racine, Yuri Lemeshev, Eliot Ferguson, Pedro Erazo, Sergey Ryabtzev, Elizabeth Sun, Oren Kaplan, among others. Their name is influenced by the 19th Century Ukrainian author Nikolai Gogol, who brought Ukrainian culture to Russia through his novels and short stories. Similarly, Gogol Bordello seek to introduce the music of Eastern Europe to American audiences. Gogol Bordello has released ten full-length albums and EPs. They include: Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike, East Infection and Super Taranta!
