Information of Gary Clark Jr.

Born in 1984, Texas native Gary Clark Jr. picked up the guitar at age 12. He played small gigs during his teenage years around Austin until he caught the attention of Clifford Antone, promoter and proprietor of the popular blues club Antone's. Requested by Antone to enter a local talent contest in the club, Clark went on to win the competition partnered with a local female singer. He subsequently became a regular performer onstage at Antone's. After graduating high school and turning down a scholarship to the University of Texas, Clark went on the road with rock icon Jimmie Vaughn. For the next decade, he toured and collaborated with other musicians, eventually becoming an acclaimed performer on the local music scene. In 2005, he self-released his first album titled Tribute. The album featured songs from Jimmy Reed, Fats Domino, Albert King, and several other classic performers. In 2007, he appeared in John Sayles film 'The Honeydripper' as a young bluesman. Shortly after being signed to Hotwire Records in 2008, he released two self-produced albums, '110' and 'Worry No More'. An EP followed in 2011 to much critical success. After being in great demand for appearances and gigs, including a 2012 performance at the White House, Clark released a major label studio album called 'Blak & Blu'. It peaked at number 6 on the US Billboard Charts and charted internationally in several countries. After a major world tour, Clark won a Grammy in 2014 for a single off the 'Blak & Blu' album.
