Information of Bonnie Raitt
One of the most beautiful artists, personally and professionally, to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of the Fame, is singer/songwriter and social activist, Bonnie Raitt. Raitt, born into a musical family, her father being the late John Raitt, legendary Broadway star, has been on the music scene since the 1960s with her roots established in folk music as she was a devoted college student, humanitarian advocate, and talented singer and guitar player combined into a fiery red-headed young woman. As Raitt became more visible on the concert scene, she began to collaborate with the likes of Muddy Waters and Johnny Lee Hooker and firmly established a new moniker as "blueswoman." After leaving Ivy League Harvard-Radcliffe to pursue music full-time, Raitt became prolific in the studio with several albums and began a lifetime, nonstop festival and concert tour. Always a steady force on the music scene, Raitt was an inspiration to young female talent around the world. She refused to be pigeon-holed into one genre of music. In addition, she remained true to herself and her personality, resisting record company pressures to spice up her presentation as a female rather than concentrating solely on the music. In 1990, she won four Grammy Awards for her best-selling album, "Nick of Time" which quickly shot up the charts to number one within weeks of being released. Her music video, "Something to Talk About," starring actor Dennis Quaid, who was featured in a movie of the same name opposite Julia Roberts, received constant rotation on all the music video networks.
