Information of Blood Red Shoes
Laura-Mary Carter (formally of Lady Muck) and Steven Ansell (formally of Cat on Form) formed Blood Red Shoes in Brighton, England in late 2004. It's reported that the name was based on the alleged incident in which Ginger Rogers tap danced repeatedly until her white dance shoes became red with blood. With Carter on vocals and guitar and Ansell contributing vocally and on drums, the alternative duo with a strong punk background released their first 7'' EP in 2005 (released on Jonson Family) featuring "Victory for the Magpie". After releasing 3 other EPs on indie labels, the band was signed by V2 whom released their singles "It's Getting Boring By The Sea" and "I Wish I Was Someone Better" in 2007. The band then released Box of Secrets (release April 2008 on Mercury featuring rereleases of their previous singles as well as "Say Something, Say Anything") and Fire Like This (released March 2010 on V2 featuring "Colours Fade" and "Light It Up"). Then, Blood Red Shoes single "It's Getting Boring By The Sea" was featured on the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (released August 2010 on ABKCO Records). The duo then released In Time To Voices (V2) featuring the track "Cold". Blood Red Shoes is working to release a self-titled album in March 2014 featuring the single "An Animal" which is a collaboration with Eoin Loveless of Drenge and Ian Clement of Wallace Vanborn.
