Ben Folds had a talent for music ever since he was a youngster growing up in North Carolina. The multi-talented Folds is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and record producer. Ben Folds can play multiple instruments and played in several bands during his young career. He supported several acts as a bassist, drummer, singer and keyboard player. In 1994 Folds joined forces with Robert Sledge and Darren Jessee. The trio named themselves Ben Folds Five and a year later would hit the national music scene with their debut album the self titled "Ben Folds Five." They produced two follow up records in the next three years and grew quite a cult following. Their hit songs such as "Brick" and "Song for the Dumped" got some radio play opening up more of an audience for the band. Ben Folds continued writing songs to perform as a solo act. "Rockin' The Suburbs" was a large hit on college radio. For the next decade Folds continued to entertain his loyal legions of fans. He expanded his skill sets to include acting as a judge on the reality talent show "The Sing Off" and even collaborated with William Shatner on an album of his tunes with Shatner's lyrics. He also recorded an album with author Nick Hornsby in similar effort. Folds continued to perform and tour as a solo act, in collaboration with writers, with several symphony Orchestra's and occasionally as a member of Ben Folds Five. His unique style and creative expression in so many ways gains him new fans.
