Ásgeir Trausti Einarsson is an Icelandic musician within the "melodic folk" genre. In addition to his solo performances, Ásgeir has a band named after him and plays guitar for Iceland's "The Lovely Lion" band. Ásgeir made his musical debut in 2012, with the single "Dýrð í dauðaþögn." After that won him "Album of the Year" from the Icelandic Music Awards and a Kraumur Award, Ásgeir gained more popularity as his "Sumargestur," "Leyndarmál," and "Dýrð í dauðaþögn" all placed on Iceland's Tónlist music charts for multiple weeks. His collaborative piece with Blaz Roca, "Hvítir skór," was a Christmastime hit for nine solid weeks. In the summer of 2013, Ásgeir released a video for "King and Cross," a single, as well as the first track of his In the Silence album. The other two tracks of which are "Going Home" and "Torrent;" the latter of which is simply "Nýfallið regn" with all of the lyrics translated into English. 2013's "In the Silence" also marks Ásgeir's union with One Little Indian Records.
