A little band called The Black Keys began with two long time friends from Akron, Ohio by the names of Patrick Carney (the drummer) and Dan Auerbach (the singer and guitarist). They debuted their very first album on May 14th, 2002 by the very suiting name "The Big Come Up". There sound is a kind of bluesy, funk, soul and did well considering they were a new independent band. A couple songs from this album were later used in television and film. Following their first album a year later was "Thickfreakness", which like the first album, was recorded in Patrick's basement. In 2004 they pushed out another album by the name of "Rubber Factory",and their first Live album by which time they were beginning to be noticed by a larger crowd. Many of the songs from this album went on to be used in a variety of movies, tv shows, and commercials. The Black Keys never lost their stride as they continued to pump out albums the following years such as "Chulahoma", "Live in Austin,TX", and "Magic Potion". April 1, 2008 "Attack and Release" was released and debuted at #14 on the Billboard 200. Later that year the band played a concert opening for Devo at their home town's civic theater for President Obama. A month later they released their "Live at the Crystal Ballroom" live video. Later they collaborated on an album called "Blakroc" with numerous hip-hop artists. "Brothers" was released in 2010 and like many of their other albums had many songs which were to be late used in various shows. One song from this album named "Tighten Up" is a very popular music video of theirs. The Black Keys have also played festivals such as Bonnaroo in Tennesee, the Outside Lands Music and Arts Music Festival and the 1st annual Kanrocksas festival. Their next album to be released is El Camino set to come out in December 2011. They are on tour throughout 2014.
