Van Etten writes retrospective songs with reflective lyrics that she sings in a soft, yet powerful voice that entwines itself around the heart of the listener. Along with singing and songwriting, Van Etten can also play a variety of instruments including the guitar and piano, and she showcases these talents in each one of her songs.
