They started playing in small bars, entered various local contests and managed to make a name for themselves within their closest circle. After winning the VI Pop Rock Contest "'Ciudad de San Sebastián", the Epic / Sony Music label set their sights on them and they recorded their first album' Dile Al Sol ', which was released in mid-1998. The band became an unprecedented success in Spain, which led them to embark on a national tour of more than 150 concerts and to win the Music Award for 'Best New Artist' and 'Best New Author'.

Already in the new millennium, and to give continuity to their successful first work, La Oreja de Van Gogh released in 2000 “El Viaje de Copperpot”, their sophomore album. In 2003, LODVG released their third album 'What I told you while you slept', where they explored new sounds and their presence and success in Latin America and neighboring countries like France grew like foam. When they completed a decade as a band, they released their fourth album 'Guapa' in 2006, the last with Amaia Montero as the band's vocalist.

After the departure of Amaia Montero from La Oreja de Van Gogh, Leire Martínez joined the band as the group's new voice. With her, La Oreja de Van Gogh has released three studio albums: "At five in Astoria" (2008), "Cometas por el cielo" (2011) and "El Planetario Imaginario" (2016).

Currently, La Oreja de Van Gogh has already recorded what will be their eighth studio album, scheduled for release in 2020.
