London-based Kwabena Sarkodee Adjepong, better known as Kwabs, is a soul-inspired baritone whose melancholy vocal delivery is set to an instrumental backdrop akin to circa-2014 electronica. Kwabs has enjoyed popular and critical acclaim as the result of his 2014 EP release Wrong or Right. The EP's title track, as well as the earlier single "Last Stand" each received thousands of listens on the filesharing website SoundCloud. Born in Ghana, the singer eventually went on to study jazz at England's prestigious Royal Academy of Music. In 2011, he was featured in the BBC2 series "Goldie's Band: By Royal Appointment." The series featured a group of formerly troubled youth working to improve their fortunes by rehearsing for a performance at Buckingham Palace in front of an audience that included Prince Harry. In 2014, the singer was endorsed as an up and coming artist by both MTV and BBC Radio 1Xtra. He also received the praise of many of his peers including Joss Stone, Emeli Sandé and Plan B, who he toured with in the summer of 2012. Kwabs's vocal sound has been compared to those of Stevie Wonder and Seal, while his accompaniment has been likened to the early sound of The Human League. He has earned fans and detractors alike. His sound has been described as everything from haunting to dreary.
