Info

Kishi Bashi or K. Ishibashi is a solo musical project from former member of internationally acclaimed band, Jupiter One. Born in Seattle, Washington in 1975, Kishi Bashi is generally regarded as an indie, experimental pop artist and has self-produced all of his projects under this moniker. Main instruments in this project include, violin, guitar, sequencing and programming. Recently, Bashi joined Joyful Noise Recordings for an album release. Previously, he has toured with Of Montreal and Regina Spektor. In recent news, Kishi Bashi went on to tour with Virginia band, The Last Bison. He has released two full length albums, 2011's Room for Dream EP (Aerobic International / Joyful Noise) and 2012's 151a (Joyful Noise). Bashi is known for his electric and energetic live performances. His live shows include a lot of vocal loops mixed with live violin playing, samples, programming and sometimes beat boxing. He has been compared to the likes of Andrew Bird and Owen Pallett. His second album which is an often misunderstood title due to its complex symbol of 151a actually refers to a Japanese phrase meaning once in a lifetime. Although still a relatively new figure in indie and popular music, Kishi Bashi has gone on to become a very popular and sought after name in the pop world. His virtuoso violin skills coupled with his unusual and melodic vocal loops make him one of the most demanded artists on the experimental pop circuit. Expect to see more albums and live shows by Kishi Bashi in the near future.
