Originating from Torrance, California, Joyce Manor was formed in 2008 as a duo. With Barry Johnson on vocals and guitar and Chase Knobbe on guitar, Joyce Manor's roots are in acoustic pop punk. After a period of instability in the group because of changes in the lineup over the next year, the additions of Kurt Walcher on drums and Matt Ebert on bass and vocals in 2009 completed the group's formation into its current lineup. Citing The Smiths, Weezer, and Rancid as influences, the band shed its acoustic origins and moved towards a harder progressive pop-punk sound. In 2010, Joyce Manor signed with independent record label 6131 Records based in Los Angeles, California. The following year, in 2011, the band released their self-titled full-length debut to wide praise. In April 2012, Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired was released through Asian Man Records, A small DIY record label based in Monte Sereno, California. After signing with Epitaph Records, an independent record label owned by Bret Gurewitz of Bad Religion, Joyce Manor released their latest album, Never Hungover Again, on July 22, 2014.
