Information of Iggy Pop
Iggy and the Stooges, or just The Stooges, in some cases Iggy Pop, are another group that enjoyed a resurgence after a nearly thirty year breakup. Their original idea was the creation of a newer form of blues for the changing musical demographic. Their avant garde approach to punk rock was out-shadowed by wild stage performances, highlighted by Iggy Pop's wild and often primitive antics. However, from their original line-up in 1967, to breaking up in 1974, the band saw very little in the realms of major commercial success, unlike counter bands like Ziggy Stardust and Velvet Underground. After the bands breakup, Iggy endured a very successful solo career lone into the 2000's when it came to his attention that the the Asheton brothers were performing Stooges covers with indie rock artists J. Mascis and Mike Watt. Intrigued, the old bandmates met up and discussed a reunion that eventually became a reality. James Williamson returned as guitarist in 2009. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. Despite the bands lengthy separation, they are still often credited with a major influence in modern culture. Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against the Machine have covered Stooges singles, and Kurt Cobain of Nirvana listed the album Raw Power as one of his all time favorites.
