Ellie Goulding is a singer and musician from Lyonshall, Herefordshire, England. She was born in 1986 and began her musical career in 2007 by signing with Polydor Records. Her debut album offering was entitled Lights in 2009. She topped both the BBC Music Charts and Critics Choice Awards in the same year in 2010. Her debut record charted at number 1 on the UK albums charts and sold just under a million units worldwide. She covered Elton John's song "Your Song" which became a popular and widely downloaded hit single for Goulding. In 2012, Ellie Goulding released her follow up album called Halcyon to much widespread success and critical acclaim. She is also an avid runner who completed a marathon and claims to run almost 6 miles every day. Some of her influences include Kanye West, Drake, Ani DiFranco, Björk,Imogen Heap, Joni Mitchell and Lauryn Hill, to name a few. Her vocal style is primarily soprano but she has an incomparable and inimitable range and phrasing style that she has made uniquely her own voice. Furthermore, Ellie Goulding has been a positive role model on young singers too. She has been very active in her social media networks, talks with fans regularly and signs autographs after shows. She is working on her third album and plans to continue touring the world in support of its release.
