Colt Ford, born Jason Farris Brown, is a country music rap artist out of Athens, Georgia. Colt Ford co-founded Average Joes Entertainment, the label with which he's signed, and helped bring country rap, also known as 'hick-hop' to the mainstream. Colt has released four albums through Average Joes Entertainment to a variety of success. His first album, Ride Through the Country, was released in 2008 and produced the single, "Ride Through the Country," which didn't hit the Hot Country Charts until close to a year later. It wasn't until his fourth album, Declaration of Independence, That Colt found success on the Top Country Albums, taking the number one spot. Having co-written fourteen out of the fifteen tracks, this is his most personal and diverse album released. The single "Back," a duet with Buck Owen, made the top forty on the Hot Country Songs chart. Colt Ford has toured extensively in support of his records and collaborated with the likes of Jermaine Dupri, Jake Owens, and Kix Brooks of Brooks and Dunn. He prides himself on creating eclectic albums filled with songs that aren't just meant to be singles, but experiments in the boundaries of music, all in his search to just make some really cool music people will want to listen to.
