Chris Cornell, best known for being a founding member of grunge metal band, Soundgarden, is an American musician whose career spans decades. In 1984 he formed Soundgarden with Kim Thayil and Hiro Yamamato. In 1988 they released their debut album, Ultramega OK, on SST Records. The album went on to win a Grammy for Best Metal Band and Soundgarden subsequently became the first grunge band signed to a major label when they signed with A&M Records. Cornell's four-octave vocal range led Soundgarden to great success. However, in 1999 Chris Cornell began a solo career with his album, Euphoria Morning. While this album didn't reach the critical success of his work with Soundgarden, a single from the album, "Can't Change Me," was nominated for a Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. While working on his second solo album, he was approached to be the vocalist of new group Audioslave. After releasing three albums with Audioslave, Chris went back to solo work. In 2010 it was announced that Soundgarden would reunite and in 2012 they released a new album, King Animal. Throughout his career, Chris Cornell has collaborated with numerous artists such as Alice Cooper, Pearl Jam, and Linkin Park.
