She thrives and is known as one of the few success stories of an actress turned singer who managed to juggle both careers at once. Brandy Norwood, or just Brandy, found television stardom as Moesha, and climbed all the way to the top of the R&B charts with her warm crooning skills and hard edged song styles. Raised in a Christian home in Mississippi, Brandy got her start the same way most young ladies in a religious household do: singing in the choir for her father's church. Both parents were very encouraging of her desire to rise to stardom and supported her during high school when she finally managed to snag a talent contract. Her self-titled debut album was released in 1994 and, in '96, she was cast in her defining role as teenager Moesha. Theatrically, she stared in Whitney Houston's production of Cinderella and the teen slasher film I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Musically, she has earned over one hundred individual awards from, but not limited to, the Grammy's and Billboard Music Award. Her 1998 duet with Monica, "The Boy Is Mine", is hailed as the most successful female duet in Billboard music history and of the '90's. Brandy's sixth studio album, Two Eleven, was released in October of 2012, where she worked hand in hand with Frank Ocean and Chris Brown.
