Born in Decatur, IL on July 23, 1971, Alison Krauss is a bluegrass singer songwriter/fiddler who excels in bringing a modern twist to a classic style of music. Her career began in 1985 with her album Different Strokes and since then she has released over 14 albums both as a solo artist and as a part of the Alison Krauss and Union Station band. She has also contributed music to a number of soundtracks including the popular O Brother, Where Art Thou? album which helped introduce a new generation of music lovers to bluegrass music. From the beginning of her career up until 2011, Alison Krauss has the distinct honor of winning 26 Grammy Awards making her both the most awarded female artist and the most awarded singer of all time. Throughout her illustrious career, Alison Krauss has appeared in concert while on tour and even performed for president Bill Clinton and vice president Al Gore when they were in office. Her music has reached through all genres of music including country, pop and adult contemporary music and she has played with an eclectic mix of musicians that include Sting, Robert Plant and the popular jam band Phish.
