Chet Faker is an award-winning Australian musician, originally of Melbourne, who's first studio album, Built on Glass, was released in 2014 and topped the Australian ARIA charts, as well as placing high in New Zealand and Belgium and appearing on the charts in the USA, UK, and France. Born Nicholas James Murphy but known by his stage handle, Chet Faker first became a recognizable name on the electronica music scene in 2011 after covering Blackstreet's "No Diggity" in an online video that quickly went viral. Shortly after that in 2012 he released his first EP, Thinking in Textures, which rose to number four on the Australian Indie charts. Through labels including Opulent, MapleMusic, Future Classic, Downtown, Chess Club, and Remote Control, he has since released three more EPs, a live album, eight singles, and a promotional single. Many of these have placed on the Australian charts and others have crossed over to become hits in Canada, France, Belgium, and the United States as well. In 2012 Chet won his first of nearly a dozen awards. Thinking in Textures was named the Best Independent Release in the Rolling Stones Australia Awards. It also was named Best Independent Single/EP and he was named Breakthrough Independent Artist in the AIR Awards that year. Since that time his popularity and critical acclaim has continue to grow with each new EP, single, and album he's released.
