Adele Laurie Blue Adkins (1988), better known solely as Adele is a decorated English singer and songwriter. Adele grew up musically gifted and drew inspiration from a number of artists and genres. Adeles break came in 2006 after she signed with XL Recordings. Adeles first project 19, peaked at the top of the UK Album chart and gained glowing praise even drawing comparisons to a gargantuan of British music, Amy Winehouse. Adeles impact was recognised at the Grammys, where she collected a brace for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her song, Chasing Pavements. Her following project, 21, was released in 2011 and included more varied interpretations of different genres and styles. The album included songs such as Someone Like You and Rolling in the Deep, both topping charts worldwide. In addition, the album was highly successful becoming the highest grossing release of the year in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Shortly after, Adele collected six Grammys and two Brit Awards, consolidating her position as an international superstar. The following year, she was awarded the Grammy of Best Pop Solo Performance" for her song Set Fire to the Rain, from her album Live at the Royal Albert Hall (2011). Her career hit new heights such as producing the soundtrack for the quintessential British film, James Bond. Instantly, the theme tune entered the Top 10 in the singles chart. Adele's contribution to music was recognised and she has been awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). In 2015, Adele released her next album 25, the album continued Adeles upwards trajectory, adding another five Grammys to her collection.
