Icon guitarist, singer-songwriter, and the only three-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Eric Clapton, will take the stage for the first of three May concerts at London's Royal Albert Hall on Monday, 22nd May 2017.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, 22nd September at 9 am with ticket prices to be announced shortly. VIP and Box Packages options are available starting at £384.00 and £480.00, respectively.
The legendary classic rock blues guitarist, Eric Clapton, who continued churning out the hits as a solo artist following his 1970 departure from Cream, will bring a greatest hits setlist from across his entire back catalogue to the Royal Albert Hall along with his backing band comprised of members Paul Carrack, Steve Gadd, Nathan East, Chris Stainton, Sharon White and Michelle John.
Active since his Yardbird days in 1964, the seventy-one year old Clapton played with Jimmy Page, as well as Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker as members of Cream, and has remained a prolific songwriter throughout it all. In May of 2016, a year before he'll take the stage for three Royal Albert Hall gigs, Clapton released 'I Still Do,' his twenty-third record as a solo recording artists, and saw it take the sixth position on both the UK and U.S. albums chart. 'I Still Do' mixes original songs and his take on classic covers including Bob Dylan's "I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine," Skip James' "Cypress Groove," Leroy Carr's "Alabama Woman Blues," and JJ Cale's "Can't Let You Do It," among others.
In fact, his 2014 solo release, 'The Breeze: An Appreciate of JJ Cale," was a tribute to his recently-fallen friend, Cale, whose guitar playing and sound helped shape the classic blues-based rock and rockabilly sound of the 60s and 70s.
If Clapton's last shows during his 2016 spring tour of Japan are any indication of what to expect on the setlist, fans can expect a bit of everything - a collection of his biggest hits, potentially including: "Cocaine," "High Time We Went," "Wonderful Tonight," "Sunshine State," "Circus," and some covers like "High Time We Went."
Last time playing London, Eric Clapton took the stage at the same venue back in 2015.
