The Horrors are a band from the English city of Southend-On-Sea, whose music has been described as a combination of multiple genres of rock and roll, including garage rock, shoegaze, post-punk, and even Gothic revival. The fact the group's sound has been classified under these widely disparate labels has meant that The Horrors have consistently managed to avoid rigid classification under any of them. As of 2014, The Horrors have recorded and released three studio albums: Strange House, Primary Colours, and Skying. All three of their records have managed to chart highly in the British Top 40, and have managed respectable sales in the rest of the world. A pair of songs from the first album, "Sheena Is A Parasite" and "Death At The Chapel", were released as singles, and became the group's first internationally recognized hits. Shortly after the release of their debut album, The Horrors were featured on the cover of New Musical Express (NME), one of Britain's oldest and most influential music news publications. This greatly increased their profile. A later appearance on Australia's internationally popular satirical comedy show, "The Mighty Boosh", gave them a further boost of world wide popularity. The group's fourth album, "Skying", was released in May. It has already become an international success story. The future of the group seems bright and promising, as they have released their fourth record Luminous in 2014, with a subsequent tour cholk full of festival appearances.
