Stone Sour is an alternative and heavy metal rock band based out of Des Moines, Iowa. The formed the group in 1992 and quickly broke up in 1997 before reuniting in 2002 until the present. The core members consist of Corey Taylor, Johny Chow, Jim Root, Josh Rand and Roy Mayorga. They have released five studio albums and are currently signed to Sony/BMG. In chronological order those albums are Stone Sour, Come What(ever) May, Audio Secrecy, House of Gold and Bones Part I and most recent offering, House of Gold and Bones Part II. They have been compared to other hard rock and metal bands such as, Slipknot, Soulfly, Black President, Isaac James, Amebix, and Nausea. They have been nominated for two Grammy Awards in the Best Heavy Metal Performance category and for their two singles, "Get Inside" and "Inhale". Stone Sour have also toured the world extensively. Their tours to date are Music as a Weapon III, Family Values Tour in 2006, Uproar Festival in 2010, Nightmare After Christmas and most recently, the Avalanche Tour. Their sound has be likened to intense vocals with a hard rock orchestration of drums, bass, guitars and the occasional turntable on stage. Over the past few years they have amassed a dedicated and large following while touring the world extensively.
