The Smashing Pumpkins are an Alternative Rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlain formed the group in 1988. The band expanded their lineup to include new members D'arcy Wretzy, Mike Burne, Jeff Schroeder, Melissa Auf der Maur and Nicole Fiorentino. The Smashing Pumpkins are signed to record labels Caroline, Martha's Music, Constantinople, Hut, Rocket Science and Virgin.
Since 1991, the band released 9 full-length studio albums. Their most recent album offering was in 2012. That album was called Oceania, and the band set off on an extensive world tour to support the initial release. In fact, in the fall of 2012, The Smashing Pumpkins toured the world playing the whole album in its entirety. The band is currently working on their 10th studio album.
