Information of Interpol

Interpol is an American indie rock band that formed from the streets of New York City in 1997. The original lineup of the band consisted of Paul Banks (vox, guitar), Daniel Kessler (rhythm guitar, backup vox), Carlos Dengler (bass, keyboards) and Greg Drudy (who later departed the band in 2000 and was replaced shortly after by Sam Fogarino.

The band had been noted for being one of the few bands that emerged during the post punk revival acts of the 2000s; mainly for their comparisons to the rhythmic and eclectic sounds bands like Joy Division and Echo and the Bunnymen had brought to the table from yore.

Between 1998 and 2001, Interpol self-released several EPs and then signed on with Matador Records in early 2002. Their first EP was self-titled and contained re-recorded versions of “PDA and “NYC”. The debut of “Turn On the Bright Lights” was released on August 19, 2002. This album slowly churned out the band’s sound to the ears of many as well as amass a strong fanbase; impressively selling 300,000 copies by the year of 2004.

In late March 2006, the band searched for a new label after leaving Matador Records behind -- they decided to sign on to an American major label, Capitol Records. Back in the studios, Interpol released their album entitled ”Our Love to Admire” in July 2007. This album was their first for bringing keyboards into the mix, and they played it as they headlined Lollapalooza music festival.
