Extreme is a radio-metal band hailing from Boston, USA. It was founded in 1995, created from a band called The Dream, which dates back to 1981.  In 1985, The Dream won a competition on MTV and changed the name to Extreme. Over time, the members have changed, but the singer Gary Cherone and Nuno Bettencourt responsible for guitar, piano and keyboard always remained as core members of the line up. Up until their temporary break up in 1995, the band published four albums. The first album Extreme experienced relatively little success. However, it was with their sophomore album, II Extreme Porn Graffiti, they found success, charting a top spot on the U.S. charts. Unfortunately, their third studio effort, III Sliders to Every Story, was not able to repeat the success of its predecessor. This was partly because there was no decoupling, which was suitable for radio. In 1992, the band participated in a concert in honor of legendary Queen singer-songwriter Freddie Mercury. With Extreme’s fourth album, Waiting for the Punchline, came a change of sorts in their music style, and, subsequently, was unsuccessful – considered by some to be a flop. Afterwards, the band split up for  some time, although they never lost full sight of the music, playing concerts from time to time, such as the 20th Maré de Agosto Internacional Music Festival. In 2008, the band decided to call it quits on the break up and reunited. As of the summer of 2014, the band our out on tour playing both headlining shows and festivals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVxqFyAHz0s
