RJD2 is the acronym for Ramble John "RJ" Krohn, an American songwriter, musician, and music producer. Despite being a white boy from Columbus, Ohio, RJD2 made work for himself as the DJ for the group MHz. A few years later, he signed onto the record label Definitive Jux for his debut solo album, Deadringer (2002). Never one to be tied down with one project, RJD2 continues to offer his talented mixing and collaboration skills with other singers and rappers, from Columbus native Blueprint to independent rappers Copywrite and Aceyalone. More recently, he recorded a cover of Radiohead's "Airbag". In 2009, he finally achieved in the establishment of his own music label, RJ's Electrical Connections, and issued re-releases of previous mix albums. RJD2's sound is an innovative mix of psychedelic mixes and turntable chords with traditional rap beats. In 2011, he teamed up with Aaron Livingston from "The Mean". They called their duo troupe project Icebird and went on to produce Abandoned Lullaby (2011). RJD2 is most credited and recognized for his hit single "A Beautiful Mine", which features as the opening theme song for AMC's hit "Mad Men."
