The rock ‘n’ roll artist known and loved as Meat Loaf was born Marvin Lee Aday on September 27, 1947. He won notoriety for his 1977 album Bat Out of Hell and kicked off his Bat Out of Hell tour the same year. The album has since sold over 43 million copies and continues to sell an estimated 200,000 copies a year. This tour marks what can be seen as the beginning of Meat Loaf’s successful rock ‘n’ roll career. While the ‘80s was an up-and-down era for Meat Loaf, by 1994 he had earned himself a Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance for “I’ll Do Anything for Love.” Meat Loaf continues to perform around the world in various venues, including headlining the 2011 Quick Chek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning concert series. His long career of long songs and theatrical performances is a vast rock 'n' roll saga for the ages.
