Since 1985, the Georgia based folk rock duo Indigo Girls have been creating and performing unique songs with a combination of melodic instrumental sounds and storytelling lyrics. Comprised of two elementary school friends by the names of Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, the Indigo Girls create music that has earned them a huge following in the years since they first began creating music together. Along with creating melodic folk song, Indigo Girls are also proud lesbians who partake in many environmental and political causes. Indigo Girls first studio album, Strange Fire, was released in 1987 and earned them the recognition of both fans and the music industry. While the album wasn't a major seller, the albums that followed Strange Fire gave Indigo Girls the respect and appreciation they deserved. Since the release of their Strange Fir, Indigo Girls have released 13 studio albums including 1992's Rights Of Passage and 1997's Shaming Of The Sun. Even it has been many year since the start of their music career, Indigo Girls remain highly relevant musicians even today.
