Gorillaz is a British band from London. Founded in 1998, is considered a "virtual band" due to the representation of the group in 2D cartoons: Noodle (guitarist), Stuart "2-D" Pot (vocalist and keyboards), Niccals (bassist) and Russel Hobs (drummer). Created by musician Damon Albarn and designer Jamie Christopher Hewlett, Gorillaz was an idea inspired by music TV channels, specially MTV. With this in mind, Gorillaz was born as a project where its animated members are as important as the music they play. Therefore, music videos are a core aspect for the band, receiving a great focus. Damon Albarn -from Blur and The Good, The Bad and the Queen among other bands- is the voice and the producer of Gorillaz, mixing britpop-rock with hip-hop and even exploring electronic and dance music. Jamie Hewlett, famous illustrator and roommates with Albern, is the artistic designer of Gorillaz. Through the creation of worldwide iconic cartoons, the duo most certainly has earned a place in music history. They even got theGuiness recognition of "planet's most successful virtual act". Gorillaz launched their eponymous debut album in 2001. Since then, they have released 7 more studio albums with numerous collaborations with featured artists such as Benjamin Clementine, Popcaan or De La Soul among others. Gorillaz is, without a doubt, one of the most influential bands of this century. They have received several BRIT and Grammy Awards for their works such as Demon Days (2005) or The Now Now (2018). "Clint Eastwood" or "Feel Goof INC" are global ground-breaking anthems that bring that good britpop vibe wherever they get.
